Ben Pena selected to be a member of the first class of RGV Leadership

An Assurance Services partner of Burton McCumber & Cortez, LLP, Ben Pena, CPA was recently selected to be a member of the first class of RGV Leadership, a program sponsored by the Rio Grande Partnership, the Rio Grande Valley's Chamber of Commerce. A valley native, Ben is committed to issues important to our region.

With BMC since 1996, Ben's areas of experience include Assurance Services, Internal Controls & Risk Assessment, Forensic Accounting, and Management Consulting. He has experience in audits involving a variety of industries, governmental and not-for-profit entities as well publically traded companies as required by the SEC and by the PCAOB. Ben has also provided litigation support services in the areas of transaction analyses, forensic accounting services and fraud examination.

In addition to being a partner with BMC, Ben has been an active leader in our communities. He currently is serving on the board of the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce and has served as chairman of the board and treasurer of Leadership McAllen. He is a past board member of several City of McAllen Advisory Boards. He serves BMC, the RGV and his profession including currently serving on the board of directors of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. His commitment to his profession was also exemplified in his involvement in the founding of the RGV Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, which allows fraud, accounting, auditing, law enforcement, legal and compliance professionals to network and learn about fraud, internal controls and compliance related topics. Ben also has been actively involved in Gideons International and is currently serving as State Area Director.
